Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Hundreds of eligible Group C and Group D education workers took out a rally from Karunamoyee to Bikash Bhavan on Wednesday demanding immediate reinstatement into their jobs. The protestors claimed they had cleared all required procedures but were still awaiting appointment. The rally concluded with a sit-in protest outside the state education department headquarters.
As the demonstrators gathered at Bikash Bhavan, slogans were raised and placards displayed, calling for fulfilment of pending job appointments. Police personnel were deployed in large numbers around the premises to ensure law and order during the agitation. The protest remained peaceful but firm.
Protestors alleged that the government had assured them of job reinstatement but had not acted on those commitments. One protestor said, “Sarkar wada karke mukar rahi hai, ab aar paar ki ladai hogi.” A delegation is expected to submit a memorandum to the Deputy Education Officer with their demands.
